Dr. Tonje M. Molyneux is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow and Preventive Pedagogy Specialist at Wellstream: The Canadian Centre for Innovation in Child and Youth Mental Health and Substance Use at the University of British Columbia, where she works with Dr. Emily Jenkins and team to generate innovative school- and community-based solutions for strengthening youth mental health and reducing substance use harms.
With over twenty years of experience in education—including classroom teaching, curriculum and program development at various non-profits, and academic research—Dr. Molyneux brings a unique perspective that bridges research, practice, and policy. Her research interests focus on school belonging and connectedness, social and emotional learning, youth-centered approaches to mental health promotion, and the implementation of evidence-based prevention in schools. Currently, at Wellstream, she is contributing to the development of pan-Canadian standards for substance use prevention, education, and intervention in K-12 schools and to youth-led policy advocacy initiatives. Dr. Molyneux is committed to translating research into practical, culturally responsive approaches that support both educator well-being and positive mental health outcomes for all students.
