Aria is Laxskiik (Eagle Clan) of the Gitxsan Nation, with ancestral ties to the Haisla Nation and the Xenaksiala people, and mixed European ancestry.
As the Roots Circle Project Coordinator, Aria works on a collective of projects that support Indigenous-led health research by building meaningful, reciprocal relationships between Indigenous community and UBC’s health researchers and institutions.
Aria graduated from UBC in 2025 with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and a minor in Anthropology. Alongside her studies, she has had the privilege of pursuing her passion for Indigenous community engagement by working in Indigenous-centered programs and spaces such as the Native Youth Program at the Museum of Anthropology, the Summer Science Program at CEIH, and šxʷta:təχʷəm at the First Nations House of Learning.
Aria is grateful to be able to surround themself with Indigenous peers, mentors, knowledge keepers, and Elders, who have guided them as they reflect on their role as an advocate for Indigenous people and communities, as an Indigenous-focused researcher, as a member of the Gitxsan and Haisla Nations, and as a member of the greater Indigenous community on these lands of the xʷməθkwəy̓əm, sḵwx̱wú7mesh, and səlilwətaɬ Nations.
