Jihye Kim (She/Her) is a Korean-descendant racialized settler living, working, and studying on the unceded territories of the hən̓q̓əmin̓əm̓-speaking Coast Salish peoples, particularly the Kʷikʷəƛ̓əm (Kwikwetlem) and xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam) Nations. She is a Master of Arts in Early Childhood Education student under the supervision of Dr. Johanna Sam and Dr. Iris Berger. She comes with a B.A. background in Human Development and Family Studies and Psychology.
Jihye has been working as an Early Childhood Educator for over 10 years, working closely with children, families and educators with diverse cultural and community contexts. Her research is grounded in Indigenous Storywork, learning and researching with Indigenous scholars and racialized settler educators. Her current projects involve creating learning spaces for settler educators to learn and engage in Truth and Reconciliation through dialogue with Indigenous scholars and through Indigenous land-based practices.
